NOTE: This topic is not meant to be a step by step procedure; rather it is an overview of the basic functionality.
When a user chooses a report, a pick applet appears. This applet is derived from a virtual business component (VBC).
The VBC calls a business service, which connects to the Analytics server and then passes certain parameters such as login, password, root catalog path, and type (Analytics data loader).
The user logged into the Analytics ...

In recent time I have come across many queries regarding updating the user key columns in the Siebel through EIM. Lets understand what is the importance of user key in siebel eim and discuss how to update User Key using EIM.
User Key — specifies one or more columns that must contain a unique set of values. Prevents users from entering duplicate records based on the user key.
Siebel EIM identifies the unique record with the help of the user key. Thus Siebel does provide some good practice to update the user key ...

I am trying to put down some of the steps that we need to follow in any data migration projects. I have consolidated these steps after working on few migration projects and going through the some articles and documents that we used during our migration project cycle.
As per the various researchers data 65% to 70 % migration projects are failures . These failures mainly occur due some very small information gap which later becomes the major issue. So lets us try to discuss the step ...

Kirill Izotov ,Managing Director, IT has provided comments on Mandeep’s article , I thought of publishing it as a separate post. Please find Kirill’s original comment below.
This is an interesting discussion, and I would like to offer some additions to the recommendations kindly published by Mandeep Grewal.

The batch size should be considered very carefully depending on the status of the system – if the system that EIM is running on is “hot” or “cold”, i.e. if users and other processes are actively performing insert/update/delete operations (“hot”) or the system ...

Below are few general guidelines that we need to take care for improving the EIM process and make a optimized EIM process for any EIM task.

Limit tables and columns to be processed using ONLY BASE TABLES/COLUMNS configuration parameters to minimize EIM processing
Altering batch sizes to find the optimal batch size for a given business component typically helps resolve performance issues (Max size should not be more than 100,000). The maximum number of batches that you can run in an EIM process is 1,000.
Verify that all indexes exist for the tables involved.
Perform regular table ...

Many get confused with data loading for the new siebel application starting from scratch. Below is the order in which we need to load data for new Siebel application. we should start loading data in follwing sequence to avoid problems
1) Administrative data – LOV’s
2) Responsibilities
3) Views
