Anyone that has worked on projects with several different environments knows the pain involved with getting identical LOVs. You might think: how difficult can it be?

Try working with 40-50 developers, tight deadlines, multiple builds, corrections after testing cycles etc, and chances are big the LOVs will be out of synch.

Of course, if the project has a process in place to move data around wih EIM, COM objects, or some other process, that is good news for you and to the envy of many projects around the world. If not, here's ...

Siebel uses Denormalized Columns to improve the performance of query operation in view where data visibility is restricted using Siebel View modes like Organization, Position etc. Denormalized columns are generally created for columns most frequently used for query like Contact First Name, Last Name etc. These denormalized columns are created in Intersection tables of the base table with Position, Organization tables. This provides an added improvement while querying for commonly used fields in My Contacts or All Contacts (Organization Visibility) views.

For example in My Contact View, there would be a by default where ...

Purpose of Constraint Picklists is to restrict or constraint the values of child Picklist based on the value of parent.
The only reason behind using Constraint PickList over Hierarchical Picklist is due to the limitation of Hierarchical Picklist showing all the values including child Picklist values.
Steps to configure Constraint PickList
